birdcrazyjen032@yahoo.comI am a middle age woman freshly demoted from my (lower) middle management position for a public employer, due to budget cuts. Eighteen of my employees were laid off. I am waiting in quiet desperation for a decent, dignified retirement so I can move away and still sustain a decent living. However, my job places me in dangerous/ugly situations that may result in a less than idyllic end.
I had a family of 5 parrots (african grey congo, male eclectus, quaker(monk), han's macaw(w/ touch of noble blood) and an australian grass parakeet(mulga) with a major attitude. But I lost the mulga, then the macaw, due to illness. I miss them both every day. At least I still have the others.
I signed up for Live Journal after discovering the Geoffrey Rush site. I have been a fan of his since 1999 and was thrilled to see him perform twice in Exit The King-wish I would have gone at least one more time. After the second time I went, I saw him leave the theater-he was so gracious, yet I was too awestruck to approach him. I have been reading the entries of his fans he so kindly took under his wing when they showed up to see his play.
In fact, their posts have helped cheer me up tremendously, after the fallout at work-when that bombshell hit, it ripped my head and heart apart. They do not know how much they have helped, I hope one day I can express my appreciation. For now, I only mostly lurk around the site, enjoying their posts and pictures.
The kindness of my co-workers (who said I had remained a decent human being when promoted) have also helped me back onto my feet. Eventually I will be recalled/status restored and their kindnesses will never be forgotten. This experience will probably make me a better person and supervisor-the upper managers have no idea what power they have handed to me and the monster they have created. And will have to one day deal with.
Please forgive my lack of computer skills/etiquette. I never grew up with them, they were'nt common even when I went to college (back then you had to sign up to use one in the computer lab when we got them, around 1986). I never personally used a computer or did an engine search until 2006. Please bare with me!
